We had lots of fun and adventure today at Gulliver's Land. It was a very sunny day and we all made the most of our time by visiting Lilliput Land, Adventure Land, Toy Land and Discovery Bay. Click on the heading to see our exciting video!
On Tuesday 17th June
an ICT workshop was
held for Parents of
Year 2 children.
Darwin and Nightingale classes, went on an educational visit to Tate and Lyle, a multi- million pound sugar company in Silverton.
Today, four top spelling champions attended the Semi-Finals of the Newham Spelling Bee Competition. Alaa, Ruth, Manaal and Azim were fantastic ambassadors for the school. We got a special mention for getting every single spelling correct! Please click on the heading for a video clip of our day.
Good attendance is a priority at Sir John Heron, at the end of term we had a very important visitor in assembly.

Who is your sporting hero?
We are raising money for Sport Relief 2014 on Friday 21st March.
Bring £1 and you can come to school dressed as your favourite sports star or sports team.
All proceeds to Sport Relief.
On Thursday 13th March the Reception Dads were invited to come and help us with our rocket project.
The Dads helped us to label our rockets. We worked together to build rockets from junk material and big boxes. The Dads helped us to paint zooming rockets and cut scary alien masks.
Thanks to all the Dads who gave up their time to work with us.
During Science week Year One went on a very exciting visit to the Science Museum. We learned all about being safe and sensible when using public transport. Once we reached the Museum we explored Space and learned all about the first man landing on the moon. We also watched a 3D movie where it felt like we were flying through Outer Space. Throughout the year a number of parents have been participating in our Parents Keep Fit Class every Wednesday morning from 9.00am- 10.00am in the main hall.
A special reader from each class was chosen to visit Waterstones this afternoon to choose some books for the class library. Despite the rain, we had lots of fun!
Children at Sir John Heron were treated to an amazing assembly by Iroko Theatre this morning. The actors told the story of Fantah from Mali, who ran into a seven-headed monster!
Carr Class have been creating wonderful 'reliefs' based on their Power of Reading book, 'The Iron Man' by Ted Hughes today. We had a visiting artist to help us.
Year 3 celebrated Chinese New Year today with a wonderful assembly, full of music, poetry and drama. They even had a life-size dragon join them for the celebration!
Children at Sir John Heron were surprised to find two tropical creatures hanging in the atrium over the weekend! Where did they come from? How did they get here?
This month, Yr3 children are working with Bow Arts. Their art work links to their IPC topic of Rainforests.
A huge thank you to every child, parent, carer and family member who were involved in raising money; as a school we raised £863.93!
Congratulations to the Year 5 and 6 football team on reaching round 3 of the Newham Cup.

The Year 5 and 6 Boys Football Team win first match of the season against Sheringham Primary School! Final score was 9-5 to SJH! What a start to the year!
