About
Sir John Heron Primary School
Sir John Heron has been built on the site where the old Fifth Avenue
School used to be. It opened as a two form entry school in 2001
with a nursery and two Reception classes. With the opening of two
new classes each year, it has now reached its full capacity.
As a resourced school we have children with profound and multiple
learning difficulties integrated within our mainstream classes.
| We aim to provide all our children with a happy, stimulating, challenging
and inclusive environment within which each and every child’s
contribution to the school is valued. We expect all our children
to be kind and helpful to each other and support them in achieving
to their full potential, developing a high self-esteem and self
discipline. |
 |
We want our children to enjoy learning, playing and
sharing together, while developing their understanding, respect
and value for the many different cultures that enrich our school
and its community.
We strongly believe that we can only succeed in our aims when parents,
carers and the school work in close partnership. We encourage parental
involvement in the children’s education as between us we have
the most important job of educating our children; enhancing their
academic and social skills, their emotional and spiritual development
and prepare them for the future.
We strive to give our children the opportunity of acquiring the
skills and knowledge which will prepare them for secondary education
and adult life. For this we hope that the children will participate
in as wide a range of activities as possible and increase their
experience and appreciation of all that life has to offer.
