This morning, we hosted a Reading Coffee Morning focused on effective strategies to support children's comprehension. Parents and caregivers discussed ways to enhance their child's understanding of texts while enjoying coffee and conversation. The session covered the importance of reading comprehension for academic success and daily life, along with practical strategies to use before, during, and after reading, such as making predictions, asking questions, and summarising key themes. An interactive demonstration by our Prefects allowed parents/carers to practice questioning techniques with a short passage, reinforcing comprehension skills. This was followed by a Q&A session where parents shared their experiences, challenges, and useful strategies.
