Safer Internet Day at school
On February 11th, Sir John Heron took part in Safer Internet Day. Every year group was given a different task to complete to promote E-Safety. The children had to think of different scenarios and represent them using various online design apps like Book Creator, Cartoon That, or Adobe Spark. The emphasis for the children was to make child-friendly resources that would teach other children ways of staying safe online. They looked at various scenarios like cyber-bullying, fraud, and private information and learnt the four steps on how to report inappropriate behaviour online by saving any evidence, blocking the person, logging off the website, and talking to a trusted adult. Children also learnt about these steps in assembly. Parents/ carers also attended an E-Safety workshop where they learnt about how to keep children safe online.
