  • Blue and Red Classes Visit the Gruffalo!

    Fri 26 Apr 2024

On Friday, Blue and Red Classes made their way to the forest to search for the Gruffalo and his friends. When we arrived, we began our search. The first creature we met was...the Gruffalo! He had knobbly knees, and turned-out toes, and a poisonous wart at the end of his nose. His eyes were orange, his tongue was black, he had purple prickles all over his back. We also met other characters, such as snake, mouse, squirrel, owl and fox! Not only did we have to find these creatures, we were tasked with building a house out of sticks for mouse! It was a very memorable day indeed!

  • Earth Day 2024

    Wed 24 Apr 2024

On April 22nd, Sir John Heron Primary School celebrated Earth Day with fun activities that taught pupils to care for the environment. They made posters on recycled cardboard and flowers from newspaper, showing how to reuse things. They planted flowers in reusable bottles and made bird feeders to help wildlife. Children in nursery got a plant to take home, symbolizing their commitment to the planet. These activities helped the students understand Earth's ecosystems and their role in protecting them for the future.

  • Year 1 at London Zoo

    Mon 22 Apr 2024

Year 1 had an exciting trip to London Zoo on Friday 19th April. Despite a setback when the coach broke down, we didn't let it dampen our spirits. Thanks to a quick fix, we were back on track in no time. The weather turned gloomy as it started to rain, but we embraced it with our raincoats. The animals seemed to enjoy the rain too, from the playful penguins to the majestic lions. The children's faces lit up with amazement as they learned about different species and habitats. It was a day filled with laughter, learning, and adventure, proving that a little rain couldn't wash away our fun!

This week some of our Reception children have been taking part in a bike training course.
