Hands-on Learning in Beehive Class - W/B 29.06.26
In Beehive Class, the children have been deeply engaged with the book The Tiny Seed, exploring its themes through a variety of hands-on, sensory experiences. To bring the story's diverse environments to life, they investigated different weather-related textures, handling cold ice cubes to represent the highest mountains, participating in a group water activity to simulate rain, and exploring both sand and sensory foam to mimic the vast ocean. Alongside these sensory explorations, the children were encouraged to use recycled materials for a creative craft activity. They practiced their autonomy by making flowers independently, while also developing crucial social skills through hand-on-hand support and taking turns with their peers.
Outdoor Learning in Butterfly Class - W/B 22.06.26
Taking advantage of the beautiful hot weather, our children took their literacy learning outdoors this week. They had a wonderful time exploring the natural world, using their senses to touch, feel, and describe different textures like vibrant flowers, crisp leaves, lush plants, and rich soil. It was a fantastic, hands-on way to spark new vocabulary and connect with nature!
Exploring the journey of the Tiny Seed in Puffin Class - W/B 15.06.26
Our pupils in Puffin Class brought Eric Carle’s classic tale, The Tiny Seed, to life this week through an immersive, hands-on sensory experience! The children explored the seed’s epic journey using squishy sensory bags and trays representing the diverse environments from the story—from scorching deserts to icy mountains. By touching, feeling, and guiding their seeds through different textures, the children didn't just hear the story; they truly experienced the magic of growth and nature.
Multi-Sensory Exploration in Beehive Class - W/B 08.06.26
This term children in Beehive Class are learning about ‘The tiny seed’ book. In this lesson, they were encouraged to do multi-sensory exploration using soil, leaf texture, torch light, and water spray. Children were supported to explore the soil tray, carefully lining seeds up inside the tray. They then used the torch to mimic sunshine which helps the seeds to grow. Finally, they sprayed water on the seeds to hydrate them. Children also used trays to sort objects such as fresh leaves, dry leaves, petals and twigs. Following this, they used mathematical skills to match numbers one, two and three with objects.
Planting in Butterfly Class - W/B 01.06.26
In Butterfly Class, the children learnt how to grow seeds into plants and flowers. The children first gathered the equipment such as watering cans, seeds, spades and plant pots. The children then used the spades to scoop the soil into their plant pots. All children took turns to place a seed into a pot and used the watering can to water the seeds.
