Understanding the World - W/B 29.06.26

We have had a very fun week in Reception! The children had a fantastic time exploring an exciting ‘Ocean Foam Potion’ activity. They used descriptive language, shared ideas, asked questions, and learned new vocabulary as they mixed, poured, and discovered the magical foamy reactions. We also enjoyed a wonderful ‘Teddy Bear’s Picnic’ at the park. The children played happily with their friends in the lovely weather, had lots of fun with the parachute, explored the playground, and enjoyed a delicious, healthy picnic!

Creative Learning (Understanding the World) - W/B 15.06.26

Reception children have had lots of fun reading the story ‘Naughty Bus’ this term. They looked at famous London landmarks that the bus would travel to. Using collage, they enjoyed making mosaic landmarks and by using junk modelling they created London Eye models. The children thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor garden centre role play. They engaged enthusiastically in imaginative play, taking on different roles such as customers and shop assistants. The children used a range of garden-related vocabulary, including ‘plants’, ‘flowers’, ‘seeds’, ‘watering can’ and communicated confidently with peers.

Using the Part-Whole Model (Mathematics) - W/B 08.06.26

This week in mathematics, the children have been exploring numbers using part-whole models. They have been learning how numbers can be split into smaller parts and then combined again to make a whole. Using part-whole models helps children build confidence in recognising different ways numbers can be represented.

Naughty Bus (Communication and Language) - W/B 01.06.26

The children in reception have started to read the story ‘Naughty Bus’. They enjoyed making predictions of what adventures the bus might go on. They created maps for the bus and used their sounds to label the lake, forests, roads, roundabouts and road signs. The children looked at different pictures of buses, including old and new transport. They drew their own buses and wrote descriptions.
