Year 4

Welcome to the Cyan and Magenta Class page!

2025-26

Creating Circuits (Science and DT) - W/B 29.06.26

This week, the children were learning the technical skills to make a light circuit. They learnt how to connect wires to a bulb and battery in order to make a simple circuit. They also learnt how to include switches and buzzers to their circuit. They did this in order to build their own product with a light in it.

The Lost World (Reading) - W/B 22.06.26

This week in year 4, we are continuing to read the classic book, ‘The Lost World’. Over the past few weeks, we have been getting to know the characters and in this week, we find them in the middle of their expedition. While reading the chapters, the children have been learning new key vocabulary to get a better understanding of what is happening in this exciting book. The children use dictionaries and WordSmyth to identify the definitions of the key vocabulary.

Comparing Religious Figures (RE) - W/B 15.06.26

In RE, the children have been learning about St Francis, a Christian, and Pandurang, a Hindu. Both figures were influenced by their god and the children worked on comparing how their lives were impacted and how they influenced others. Using thinking frames, the children compared St Francis against Pandurang. In this lesson, the children were able to look at how some religions have, not just differences, but similarities too.

Mexico! (Geography) - W/B 08.06.26

In Geography, the children in year 4 have been learning about Mexico. This week, they had a truly immersive experience of Mexico! They tasted some different Mexican foods, learnt some phrases in Mexican and also got a chance to win some goodies from hitting a piñata. They also created artwork based on the famous Mexican artist Frida Kahlo and they learnt about the Day of the Dead. What a fantastic learning experience they had!

Charlotte's Web (English) - W/B 01.06.26

This week, we kicked off our brand new topic by jumping right into a big debate! We turned our classroom into a busy farm kitchen and used drama to explore two different sides of a tricky problem. We transformed our classroom into a farm and pretended to be either Fern or the farmers from the book ‘Charlotte’s Web’. We practiced using strong words to share our opinions in a "Conscience Alley" activity and worked hard listening respectfully to ideas different from our own!
