Exploring Different Textures - W/B 06.07.26
This week in Nursery we have been exploring different textures such as ice, bubble foam and mud. When we played with ice we noticed that the ice melted quickly in our hands as they were warm. When we held bubble foam it felt light in our hands whilst the mud was rough and grainy. We also thought about what might happen if we mixed ice, bubble foam and mud together - the results were both messy and interesting. The children had a great time experimenting.
Understanding the World - W/B 29.06.26
We had a busy week in Nursery this week. We discovered that our magnetic tiles stick to our radiators! We had so much fun creating pictures and new shapes together. Elsewhere in the nursery, we enjoyed making play dough dinosaur prints, exploring painting with one colour and making cube towers!
Islamic Artefacts (Understanding the World) - W/B 15.06.26
This week the children in the nursery have been exploring some Islamic artefacts, to link with our learning about Eid and why it is a special celebration for some people. Some of our favourite artefacts to explore were a beautiful prayer mat, as well as a children’s illustrated Qu’ran. Some of our children recognised the artefacts as they have them at home too! We also compared how the things we have at home were similar to the artefacts at school. It has been great learning about the different celebrations our friends take part in.
Counting (Mathematics) - W/B 08.06.26
This week in nursery we have been learning how to match quantities with a digit. We have been using numicon ‘cars’ and travelling around the table to find the number that matches. We have been carefully counting the holes of each numicon to make sure we have the right amount.
We're Going on a Bear Hunt (Communication and Language) - W/B 01.06.26
We enjoyed our first week back at nursery, especially catching up with our friends! We enjoyed telling each other about our half term holiday and engaging in the new activities in our area. We have begun reading ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ and have started to discuss journeys, particularly our journeys to school. We also experienced ‘swishy swashy’ grass like in the story and compared different size bears.
