Transition from an Infant School
Infant to junior school transition |
Children born from 1 September 2018 and 31 August 2019 who attend an infant school, will need to apply for a Year 3 place in a junior or primary school for September 2026. This does not apply to children who already attend a primary school unless their parent/carer wants to change their child’s school for September 2026.
National closing date for on time junior applications 15 January 2026
National offer date for on time junior applicants 16 April 2026
All junior school (or Year 3 in a primary school) applications for 2026 entry must be made through the family’s home local authority.
For children living in Newham, families must apply via the London Borough of Newham.
For children living outside Newham, whose family wants them to attend this school, their application must be made through their home borough naming this school as a preference on their application.
Remember, parents/carers with children on roll in a Year 2 class of an infant school must apply for a junior place in this school, even if the child:
- Has a brother or sister who attends this school.
Before submitting a junior school application we strongly recommend all families read the local authorities 'Starting School in Newham 2026' booklet and find out information about the school you are interested in.
