Our vision centres on empowering children through functional communication and self-regulation, building core independence for lifelong learning.  

Functional Communication & Interactive Learning

For our pupils with ASD and complex communication needs, functional communication forms the core of daily routines. Children engage with visual supports, PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), core vocabulary boards, and interactive communication apps across structured sessions—including Attention Bucket, cooking, music, art, and PE. These tools ensure every child has a voice to express needs, make choices, and interact meaningfully with adults and peers.  

Regulation & Sensory Integration

To support readiness for learning, emotional regulation and sensory circuit activities are embedded directly into daily timetables. Pupils participate in dedicated sensory room sessions, atrium regulation routines such as Get Set for Learning circuits. Adults practice careful prompting and gradual fading to build emotional self-regulation, ensuring pupils receive tailored support while developing autonomous coping mechanisms.  

PMLD Provision: Switchwork & Sensory Engagement

Our pupils with PMLD continue to develop intentional interaction through structured switchwork and sensory stories. Pupils practice using switches across varied contexts—from switch-activated technology and interactive stories to daily greeting routines ("good morning") and specialised sensory room experiences. Sensory stories support literacy engagement while strengthening choice-making, anticipation, and sensory processing.  

Contextual Learning & Specialised Support

Themed termly topics provide a rich context to apply communication, regulation, and independence goals across real-life experiences, including Forest School, swimming, community trips, and targeted interventions like Intensive Interaction, LEG Groups, and Nurture Groups.
