Applying for Free School Meals

In Newham, all Primary aged pupils are currently provided with school meals under the Mayor’s “Eat For Free Scheme”. This is separate to the Government’s Free School Meal provision.

Your children may qualify for Free School Meals if you receive any of the following:

  • Income Support;
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance;
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance;
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999;
  • The guaranteed element of Pension Credit;
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190);
  • Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit;
  • Universal Credit - if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get).

In order to apply for Free School Meals parents/carers MUST apply here, you will also need your National Insurance Number to complete the form: If you are unable to complete this form online then please contact the office and we will assist you.

If you do not qualify for Free School Meals under the scheme then unfortunately, you will not be entitled to the Government’s current support arrangements for Free School Meals. If you are experiencing difficulty in this area then you should contact the school on 020 8514 9860 or email and the school will try to put you in touch with organisations that can offer support.

Children that are currently entitled to Free School Meals have already been contacted by the school and systems are being put into place to offer the current Government support to these families.

If you have any further questions or queries regarding Free School Meal entitlement, please do not hesitate to contact the school on 020 8514 9860 or email The school is here to offer as much support as we can to all our families during this unprecedented crisis. Please do get in touch if you need our help.
