Sketching the City - Year 6 Visits London

We had an absolute blast on our visit to sketch the city this week, our immersion into our Art topic. We followed a route and used our map reading skills to get ourselves from Liverpool Street Station around the local area to be inspired by the architecture of iconic London buildings and structures including The Gherkin, The Lloyds Building, The Walkie Talkie and The Monument. We looked at the different shapes and materials that we used in their construction, how they were set amongst other buildings and clues of their age from the detail in their decoration, all whilst sketching what we saw.  Keep an eye out for our final pieces which will merge this first-hand observational drawing with the influences of our two spotlight artists, in a display which will be up after half term.
