The children learnt about the important role the London Fire Brigade plays in keeping people safe and explored how to contact the emergency services, understanding the different roles of each service. They examined the firefighter’s uniforms and discovered the purpose of each feature. The children also investigated different fire scenarios, identifying potential causes such as matches, candles and cooking. In addition, they learnt about the importance of fire detection, focusing on smoke alarms and how they help to keep us safe. Finally, they discussed what to do if they ever need to escape their home in an emergency due to a fire, developing their knowledge of fire safety and how to respond confidently in dangerous situations.
