• Family Friday- Developing Gross Motor Skills!

  Today we held our Family Friday in Reception, welcoming parents into school to take part in a range of activities focused on developing children’s gross motor skills. It was a wonderful opportunity for families to explore engaging, hands-on activities together, while gaining practical ideas and strategies to support gross motor development at home. Thank you to all the parents who joined us and helped make the session such a success!

  

• Year 1 visit Manor Park Methodist Church

  We visited Manor Park Methodist Church where we explored the Christmas story through different themed activities. First, we visited the “Shepherds’ Hillside”, we imagined what it was like for the shepherds when the angels appeared. Next we went to “Mary’s Kitchen”, we learned more about Mary and talked about how she might have felt when Jesus was born.  At the “Star Watchers’ Palace”, we discovered what the three wise men gave Jesus and why their gifts were special. Finally, we visited “Christmas Today”, where we learned how people celebrate Christmas now. The visit helped us understand the Christmas story much better, and we enjoyed exploring each part together.

  

• An afternoon at the Opera

  The choir was very fortunate to attend a dress rehearsal of an opera performance earlier today. The performance was an adaptation of The Brothers Grimm’s tale of Hansel and Gretel. It was interesting to watch a story portrayed only through song and music. The opera singers executed the different roles perfectly, projecting their beautiful voices. On the way back to school, we walked past the River Thames, spotting Greenwich and the Cutty Sark across the water.

  

• Year 3 Sharing Assembly

  This week the children in year 3 had their sharing assembly. Both classes worked really hard to come up with a wonderful performance which they shared with their families. The children spoke about their learning in English, Geography and PSHCE and even sang a few songs from choir club as well as their music lessons. 

  

• Year 3 Visits the Science Museum

  On Monday, the children in year 3 visited the Science Museum. They looked at space capsules, rockets and even got to see a piece of moon rock! The children explored the majority of the museum with each floor having a different aspect of science to examine. They even saw the first ever medication and what hospitals used to look like in the 20th century. It was a wonderful experience for all. 

  

• London Symphony Orchestra (LSO)- Resourced Provision Performance

  The London Symphony Orchestra has been working closely with our Resourced Provision children to help them engage with music in an exciting and meaningful way. Through hands-on workshops, the LSO musicians have introduced the children to a wide range of instruments, encouraging them to explore sounds, develop new skills, and express themselves creatively. Their hard work and growing confidence culminated in a wonderful performance, where they proudly showcased their music to an audience of Year 6 pupils. This experience has not only supported their musical development but also boosted their confidence and sense of achievement.

  

• LSO - Resource Provision

  This week, pupils within our Resource Provision enjoyed a remarkable opportunity to work directly with musicians from the London Symphony Orchestra. The workshop offered a rich sensory and musical experience, giving children the chance to listen to a wide range of orchestral instruments up close.

   

  Throughout the session, pupils developed key skills such as sustained attention, turn-taking, and understanding cause and effect through sound exploration. With the support of LSO musicians, the children experimented with rhythms, patterns, and musical responses, gradually building confidence and creativity.

   

  Together, they have begun creating their own piece of music, which they will continue to refine with the LSO in preparation for an exciting upcoming performance. The sense of pride and engagement shown by the pupils has been wonderful to see.

   

  We are incredibly grateful to the London Symphony Orchestra for providing such an inspiring experience and for helping our children explore music in such a meaningful, interactive way.

   

  

• KS2 Choir Performs at Westfield Stratford City

  Our KS2 choir had the opportunity to perform at the Westfield Stratford City Choir Competition on Thursday 4th December. It was wonderful to sing a range of our favourite Christmas songs! What a way to start the festive season!

  

• Year 4 Sharing Assembly

  This week, year 4 performed their sharing assembly to parents and carers. They confidently showcased the wonderful learning that has taken place in year 4 this term. They shared facts about ‘States of Matter’ in science, multiplication and division in mathematics and imperative verbs in English. From their geography learning, they identified the countries of Europe, said hello in different European languages and performed a Greek dance! To end the assembly, they sang ‘Mama Mia’ by Abba, as part of their music learning. What a fantastic performance they gave! Well done year 4!

  

• Year 6 Visits Cineworld, Ilford

  On Tuesday, we went on a visit to Cineworld, Ilford to watch an amazing film called ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom’. I first thought that it would be a fun movie, because the word kingdom shows me that it has a happy background. I was wrong about that.The film started off with a boy, his mother, father and dog.They were sailing around the world, when a thunderstorm struck. The current was very high and they had to survive.The boy wanted to save the dog, who fell into the raging sea and ended up risking his own life.
