For their end of year treat, year 5 pupils and staff visited the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park last Friday! They had a lot of fun playing in the sand and water area with each other. They also had a picnic, which was really nice. Some of the children played football too. It was a wonderful celebration of their time in year 5.

    Fri 27 Jun 2025

Today at Sir John Heron Primary School, our Reception pupils enjoyed a fantastic Sports Day filled with energy, enthusiasm, and team spirit. The children took part in a range of fun activities including running races, obstacle courses, and ball games, cheered on by their friends, teachers, and families. It was wonderful to see the children trying their best, celebrating each other’s efforts, and having fun outdoors. A big thank you to everyone who came along to support and to our staff for organising such a joyful event!

  • NED Resilience Assembly

    Thu 26 Jun 2025

This afternoon, the year 4 and 5 pupils participated in an assembly about resilience. They met Thommey, who introduced them to NED, a cartoon character whose name is an acronym for Never give up, Encourage others, and Do your best. During the assembly pupils learnt that NED faced a range of challenges, but he never gave up! Thommey even shared some cool yo-yo tricks as well as top tips on how to use a yo-yo. Next week, all pupils will be able to buy these yo-yos in the playground during playtimes, and in the process will help fund another school to have a similar assembly as the one they just had. Let’s pay it forward!

  • Residential Day 2 at Debden House

    Wed 25 Jun 2025

As the sound of raindrops on our tents woke us up this morning, we knew a great day lay ahead. After breakfast, we embarked on a range of activities, led by Essex Boys and Girls. This included archery, orienteering, shelter building, lazer tag, team building and woodwork. As the day came to an end, Ms Ishaq and Ms Shah treated us to pizza before we gathered around the campfire for some delicious toasted marshmallows, under the watchful eye of Mr Mcleod.

  • Residential Day 1 at Debden House

    Tue 24 Jun 2025

We arrived this morning at Debden House Campsite and set up our tents. After enjoying lunch, we had a marvellous time playing with the water guns. We truly got soaked! Some of us took a walk in the forest with Ms Bekker and Mr Dizon, whilst the rest of us played football, board games or just relaxed back at camp under the watchful eyes of Mr Mcleod and Mr Shekoni. This evening, we will enjoy a barbecue before going to bed. We even may squeeze in a night walk! Check back here again tomorrow to see what we got up to!

  • Sing Loud!

    Thu 05 Jun 2025

Earlier today, our wonderful choir had the privilege to work with the talented Rebecca Milford and Rosie Amos, preparing for an exciting singing festival we will participate in later this term. We worked on songs such as 'I can see clearly now', 'You can't stop the beat', 'Something inside so strong' as well as the showstopper 'From now on'. Over the next number of weeks, we will practice each song to ensure we are more than ready to participate in the 'Sing Loud, Sing Newham!' festival at Silverworks Island.
