  • Year 2 Visits Valentines Park

    Thu 23 Apr 2026

This week, year 2 visited Valentines Park to carry out a research activity. We explored and observed different plants, trees and flowers and recognised the difference between deciduous and evergreen trees. We discussed the conditions in which the plants are growing and linked our observations to what plants need to grow. We also compared plants growing in the light and in the shade. Finally, we identified which plants were seeds and which were bulbs and discussed how the park might look different in winter compared to spring.

  • Earth Day

    Wed 22 Apr 2026

Today, our school community came together to celebrate Earth Day with a day full of purposeful learning and hands-on action. We were thrilled to participate in special lessons designed and led by our very own Spectacular Science Club, which deepened our understanding of the vital importance of recycling, pollution reduction, and the impact of littering. Students showcased their creativity by bringing in recycled materials to construct everything from climate change mascots and renewable energy systems to informative sustainability displays. Our efforts continued outside, where we took pride in performing a campus-wide litter pick, while others enjoyed crafting seed bombs to support local biodiversity and creating Earth Day necklaces. It was a truly fantastic day of learning and engagement, and we are proud to be raising awareness about how we can best protect and care for our world every day.

  • The Science Dome Visits SJH

    Mon 20 Apr 2026

Today, we were visited by The Science Dome company to learn about our planet. As part of our Earth Day celebrations, we had the privilege of participating in a pre-teach immersive experience designed to help our learning stick. We want to protect our world and its ecosystems, so it is vital that we learn as much as possible to help prevent further pollution or irreversible damage. On Earth Day, we will discuss our learning in more detail and participate in follow-up activities to raise awareness about protecting and preserving our world.
