Summer Fun Zone Day 7
Tue 03 Aug 2021Week 2, Day 2:
Our oceans are precious and so today we’ve been thinking about how to look after them. Our mission for today was to create a poster to educate people about the Seashore Code- rules about looking after our marine life. We’ve also learned about some of the prehistoric animals that used to live in our seas and looked at some of the weird and wonderful creatures that still do exist in our waters- have a look at a Sheepshead fish and a Blob fish and see for yourself!
This week we have been learning about Maritime week and we made posters on why we should save Maritime Life.I had fun this week because we were able to draw and write about why we should save our ocean and Maritime Life.

Summer Fun Zone Day 6
Tue 03 Aug 2021Day 6
British Maritime Week
National Marine Week is The Wildlife Trusts’ nationwide celebration of all things marine. To start our focus week off, we’ve learned which words share the same root and are linked to the sea and come up with: Marine, Maritime, Submarine, Marina and Mariner. Can you see what the link is between them all? Once we discussed this we also talked about what sea life we knew of, learned new facts about some of them, for example, did you know that a lobster can grow new eyes?! We collected our knowledge about different kinds of water transport and thought about why plastic shouldn’t be in the seas. As today was the first day, we’ve designed the front cover of our marine book and some of us have been using our eagle eyes to enjoy word searches that link to our focus week.
Today we're learning about the ocean and our week is called british Maritime week.
I like the week because I like the ocean and its fun drawing animals in the ocean.

"Today in school we created stained glass windows. I really enjoyed todays session as when we created the stained glass windows we first had to design what we were going to put on our windows. After we had done that, we got black card and transformed our piece into something magical. The outcome of a stained glass windows was truly amazing. I really enjoyed our session as we could show our artistic skills in our lesson today. I hope you enjoyed reading about what we have been working on in school".

Science Day
Mon 12 Jul 2021Last week we celebrated Science day! Children had the opportunity to watch science in action with a special Silly Science workshop. Children were all amazed and by the explosions and fun of the experiments shown. Children had to try and stand on eggs without cracking them and watched thrust and air resistance in action. Children then learnt about Mae C. Jemison the first African American woman in space. The children explored her life and learnt about significant moments. They then showcased their learning through a write up about her life.
In the class the children had to put on their scientist hats and carry out an investigation. Some year groups learnt about the importance of physical activity and challenged themselves to carry out exercises in one minute. Another year group learnt about states of matter and had the opportunity to watch water as a solid, liquid and gas.
