  • Relationship and Health Education - Y1-Y6

    Tue 15 Sep 2020

    The government has introduced a new curriculum for Relationship and Health Education which schools must start teaching from April 2021. This has been delayed from September 2020 due to COVID-19.

     

    The school is currently in the process of planning the implementation of this curriculum and as part of this intends to consult with parents/ carers so they are fully aware of what will be taught.

     

    The school is planning to hold a consultation meeting with parents/ carers by the end of the Autumn term and information about this will be sent to parents/ carers when available. The consultation meeting may happen in school or virtually depending on the COVID-19 situation. Parents/ carers will be informed of arrangements once finalised.

  • PE Lessons and Kit

    From Monday 7th September 2020, Physical Education (PE) lessons will resume for all children from Reception to Year 6.

     

    Children will need to wear their PE kit to school on the day that they have PE. They will not be required to bring their school uniform to change into.

     

    The school PE kit consists of;

    Trainers or plimsolls

    Grey or blue tracksuit bottoms

    Plain white t-shirt or polo shirt

    Blue school jumper with the school logo

     

    Your child will be required to wear their PE kit to school on the following days:

    Reception

    (Blue and Red Class)

    Thursdays

    Year 1

    (Green and Orange Class)

    Tuesdays and Fridays

    Year 2

    (Yellow and Purple Class)

  • Welcome Back Year 5!

    Today we were very pleased to see our lovely Year 5 pupils return to school. This was also very exciting as Darwin Class had the opportunity to meet their new teacher for the first time. We are delighted to welcome Ms Choudhery to Sir John Heron and hope she enjoys her time here.

  • Nursery Children Return!

    We are so proud of our wonderful Nursery pupils that have returned to school this week. They have settled into our new routines so well and have been so brave when their parents and carers have dropped them off.   • Welcome Back!

    Today we are delighted to welcome back our Y6 and Y1 pupils! They have spent time learning about the new ways of working whilst at school and the measures the school is taking to keep pupils safe.

    The children were delighted to see their new teacher and their friends in their class. It was also really exciting to have a picnic in our classroom!

  • Year 6 Leavers

    Thu 16 Jul 2020

    On Wednesday, we invited all our year 6 pupils in for an hour to mingle in the playground and say their goodbyes. The playground was a beehive of excited faces, keen to have a little catch up! Pupils were given their yearbooks, as well as graduation certificates. 
    We took a group photo together before going our separate ways. The staff at Sir John Heron would like to wish every Year 6 pupil well on their onward journey to secondary school and beyond. We will miss you, but we know you will be successful!

    Health Visiting Team

    Due to the quickly-changing situation surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic, the Children’s Health 0-19 Service will be reducing the number of face to face meetings. This precaution is needed to help reduce the spread of infection and to help to keep everyone safe. We are working hard to make sure that we provide the best quality service that we can.

    Where suitable services will be provided over the telephone and video messaging instead of in-person. However we will still make some face to face meetings but we will contact you beforehand to check it is safe for us to meet. 

    Remember that in most cases, Covid-19 only causes mild illness.
