• Year 4 Instrumental Lessons

  The children in Year 4 have an opportunity to learn the flute, clarinet or violin as part of additional instrumental lessons offered in the school which take place every Wednesday. Lessons are provided by our own music teacher, Miss Slocombe and a music tutor called Lauren from Newham Music who visits us once a week. Click on the link before to visit the music page of the website to find out more:

• Vehicle Idling Project

  Air pollution is a major concern and leaving your car engine running when parked (idling) creates unnecessary pollution - have a look below for further information about this particular issue. 

   

  In an effort to combat this problem, the school will be taking part in a vehicle idling project. As part of the project, we are asking parents/ carers to volunteer to speak to idling drivers on the streets surrounding the school. The project will take place on February 27th. If you are interested in taking part, please inform Mr Howell via the school office. 

  

• Magic Breakfast!

  Magic Breakfast takes place every morning in the main hall from 8am. Everyone is welcome to attend and the daily charge is £1.00. Bagels, spreads and cereals are available to eat for breakfast which are all healthy and delicious! Also there are lots of fun activities for children to do including sporting activities such as ping pong and football as well as art activities such as drawing. We look forward to seeing you there! • Dinner Winners!

  Congratulations to our dinner winners who have demonstrated the values of Responsibility (Year 2-6) and Solvatops (EYFS-Year 1) this week. The children were rewarded with a special lunch with Mr Howell!

• Christmas Concert!

  We have just had our final whole school assembly of 2019, and went out with a bang with our Christmas concert! All the children joined in enthusiastically to sing some well-known Christmas carols, and the KS1 Choir performed for the school!

• Santa Claus is coming to town! Sir John Heron Town!

  Christmas truly came to Sir John Heron Primary School today! The children all had a visit from Santa who gave out presents. We raised £281.00 for Save the Children by wearing Christmas jumpers. We also gathered in the main school hall where everyone enjoyed a traditional Christmas lunch of turkey and stuffing.

• It's Panto Time! Oh, no it isn't! Oh, yes it is!

  This week, Sir John Heron children were visited by a pantomime company. They performed a version of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ which the children thoroughly enjoyed. There was a great deal of audience participation which made the performance even more thrilling.

  

• Christmas Fayre

Well done to the Year 6 children and teachers who organised the fayre and for making it a wonderful success. • Year 2 Nativity Performance

  Thank you to all the parents/carers who attended the Year 2 Nativity Performance this morning. The children have been practising hard in preparation for the performance and we hope you enjoyed watching the children perform!
