London Symphony Orchestra (LSO)- Resourced Provision Performance
Mon 08 Dec 2025The London Symphony Orchestra has been working closely with our Resourced Provision children to help them engage with music in an exciting and meaningful way. Through hands-on workshops, the LSO musicians have introduced the children to a wide range of instruments, encouraging them to explore sounds, develop new skills, and express themselves creatively. Their hard work and growing confidence culminated in a wonderful performance, where they proudly showcased their music to an audience of Year 6 pupils. This experience has not only supported their musical development but also boosted their confidence and sense of achievement.

LSO - Resource Provision
Thu 04 Dec 2025This week, pupils within our Resource Provision enjoyed a remarkable opportunity to work directly with musicians from the London Symphony Orchestra. The workshop offered a rich sensory and musical experience, giving children the chance to listen to a wide range of orchestral instruments up close.
Throughout the session, pupils developed key skills such as sustained attention, turn-taking, and understanding cause and effect through sound exploration. With the support of LSO musicians, the children experimented with rhythms, patterns, and musical responses, gradually building confidence and creativity.
Together, they have begun creating their own piece of music, which they will continue to refine with the LSO in preparation for an exciting upcoming performance. The sense of pride and engagement shown by the pupils has been wonderful to see.
We are incredibly grateful to the London Symphony Orchestra for providing such an inspiring experience and for helping our children explore music in such a meaningful, interactive way.

Year 6 Visits Cineworld, Ilford
Tue 25 Nov 2025On Tuesday, we went on a visit to Cineworld, Ilford to watch an amazing film called ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom’. I first thought that it would be a fun movie, because the word kingdom shows me that it has a happy background. I was wrong about that. The film started off with a boy, his mother, father and dog. They were sailing around the world, when a thunderstorm struck. The current was very high and they had to survive. The boy wanted to save the dog, who fell into the raging sea and ended up risking his own life. If you want to find out what happened next, visit Cineworld!

UK Parliament Week
Mon 24 Nov 2025This week we are holding school elections to find out who the new MPs will be. MP stands for Member of Parliament. This means that some of your classmates decided that they would like the chance to represent your ideas about how we can make the school a healthier environment and play our part in making the earth a greener place. They went away and thought about the ideas that they would like to see happen in school. They gave speeches to you in class to persuade you that they were the best person for the job. When you listened to what your classmates had to say, you will have thought about who would do the best job about making positive changes in our school community and represent the ideas of your class.
On Wednesday afternoon, it was time to decide who would be elected by voting for the candidates. Voting is private and you don’t have to tell anyone who you have chosen to vote for. If you are standing for election, you may choose to vote for yourself. To cast your vote, you simply need to tick the name of the person you would like to be elected and put your ballot paper in the ballot box.
Our school elections demonstrate our British value of democracy. Democracy is a system where the people get to choose their leaders and have a say in how their community is run, often through voting in elections. The word "democracy" comes from ancient Greek words for "people" and "to rule," so it literally means "rule by the people". Instead of one person being in charge, everyone gets an equal say in electing representatives who make decisions on their behalf.
Once the votes have been cast, we, the Prefects, who are a bit like the members of the House of Lords, if we compare ourselves to the UK Parliament, count them. The two candidates in each class who have the greatest (most) number of votes will be elected as your M.P.s.
The names of our new MPs will be announced in Friday’s assembly and we would like to wish all of the candidates good luck!

Meeting the Philosophy Man
Thu 20 Nov 2025On Thursday, we attended a Zoom meeting with ‘The Philosophy Man’. We thought about some big questions relating to what freedom is. He talked about Odysseus and his journey to the land of the sirens. In the story Odysseus sails past the sirens, whose singing lures sailors to their deaths. He plugs his crew’s ears with beeswax and has himself tied to the mast so he can hear the song without steering the ship toward danger. They pass safely but one of his men takes the beeswax out of his ears after he sees Odysseus’s face transforming after he hears the sirens and he dives into the sea. I found this interesting because even though they had instructions to not take the beeswax out, the rower went against that.

Year 5 Visits the Cinema
Wed 19 Nov 2025Earlier today, Maroon and Turquoise classes enjoyed an exciting trip to the Odeon cinema in Greenwich to watch the film adaptation of ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom’, a book written by Micheal Morpurgo. It was a special pre-teach experience for our upcoming English topic in the spring term. The visit was not only a fun outing, but also a fantastic opportunity to introduce the story and themes that we will explore in depth later in the year.
