Science Fair!
Tue 03 Feb 2026This year, our science club participated in a science fair at Little Ilford School hosted by Ms. Sultana. The theme was ‘Natural Disasters’ and we made a display that showcased a variety of large scale events that can occur at any given time around the world. For the WOW factor, we chose to make volcanoes, tornadoes in a jar and an earthquake shake table! Four of our members represented our school and did a fantastic job, informing everyone about how these events occur and offering live demonstrations to schools in our local community.

Family Hub 'Talk & Tea' session
Fri 30 Jan 2026On Friday 30th January parents/ carers were invited to the Family Hub 'Tea & Talk' session in school. This was delivered by a team which consisted of Family Hubs Manager, Parenting and Partnership Lead, Early Help Practitioner and Parent Promoters. It was an opportunity for parents/ carers to find out what the family hubs are, where they are located and what free support is available through the family hub. Newham has four family hubs which are located at Shipman Youth Zone, East Ham Library, Manor Park Children’s Centre and United West Children’s Centre & Family Hub and other satellite sites. Each hub delivers workshops, activities, advice and support services from conception to 18 years (up to 25 years if the young person has additional needs).
The Family Hubs are tailored to meet your needs at the earliest preventing small challenges becoming bigger ones. Whether visiting a local hub, receiving outreach support, or accessing resources online, families can find the help they need, when they need it – making support more accessible, connected, and effective.
Family Hubs bring the following support services:
• Financial support and benefits advice
• Employment assistance
• Housing and homelessness support
• Domestic violence and abuse support
• Help for refugees and asylum seekers
• Alcohol and substance use support
• Parent and baby groups
• Stay and play sessions
• Parenting programmes

Enactment of The Great Fire of London
Mon 26 Jan 2026Year 2 brought History to life with an exciting live re-enactment of the Great Fire of London. The children designed and built their own Tudor houses using different materials, thinking carefully about what homes were made from in 1666 and why the fire spread so quickly. We then burned down the houses safely as part of our demonstration which helped the children to see just how fast flames could travel between the houses.

Year 1 Visit V & A Childhood Museum
Fri 23 Jan 2026Year 1 had an exciting and inspiring visit to the V&A Childhood Museum as part of our learning this term. The children explored a wide range of toys, transport and clothing from the past, helping them to understand how life has changed over time. This linked closely to our history topic on Florence Nightingale, as the children compared old and modern transport and discussed how people travelled during her lifetime.
During the visit, pupils used their English skills to identify and describe different objects, learning new vocabulary along the way. In the design area, the children enjoyed designing their own pictures using stencils and blocks, developing their creativity and design technology skills.
The visit supported learning across several subjects, including history, English, transport and design technology, and gave the children a hands-on experience that brought classroom learning to life. It was a memorable day full of curiosity, creativity and discovery.
